I posted this originally in 2008 but I just thought I’d re-post as I’m in China and working on showing you guys more of the behind the scenes shoe action. ;) Anything in particular you guys wanna know about? Now’s the time to ask!!

For now- this is just a diagram of shoe terms. I feel like it maybe common knowledge but I get a few emails now and then asking what an online store means when they mention any of these parts.

Miss you guys!

There are very rare person like you who can give this type of full explanation with diagram also. I have seen the diagram and read the article and came to know about the full specification of shoes.

Great blog! I can’t believe it took me ages to find it.
I’m a shoe girl as well. From Novo Hamburgo, Brazil. I was living in China until 2009 when I was nicely asked to move to India or lose my job :-(
So I did move to India to work mainly on men’s shoes. Not that I have anything against men’s shoes, not at all… but women’s are much better – you from all the people will understand it.
I am in Brazil now, the place I call home. Looking forward to get back to “lovely Dongguan” in China and work in shoes again, altought the market seems to be getting better at home (domestic market).
Would really LOVE to hear from you, I have worked with some of the brands you mentioned, including Guess before it went to Mark F.
I bet you are in Dongguan area, are you?
Again, lovely blog! You have the best job in the world!!!

Not so great to have to travel to China for shoes. BUT! If anything is worth the trip, shoes are!

Are you going to see the Great Wall? Can you buy a little Mao figurine? Can you find out what color Gwen’s lipstick is?

Those are my questions for now.

Question: why, with all of the technology out there, can’t all high heels by now be also comfortable ? why are some great and others like torture devices. Why not proper cushioning, padding ?
