What’s Going On??

“Where has she disappeared to this time?” you may be asking yourself. Well, there’s a few things, first being my laptop was stolen and I lost ALL of my photos files and info.
“But you must have a backup!?” well, no. No I don’t.

So new laptop, new start I suppose. Such a bummer. But on to the good news that I’m finally allowed to share!! I hinted to a new line with a super mega celeb a few months ago and I still can’t reveal who she is (dangit!!) but I ended up passing on that project anyway. Why? Well for what may be the most exciting project in my career!!
“Better than working with Betsey Johnson?” Kinda.
“Better than working with Gwen!!??” Sorta.

Drumroll please…………..

My very own line! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! I’m so excited!!!! Can you believe it!? So I’m obviously very preoccupied with that and with getting it started and whatnot, but I’d really like to share the process with you guys. From concepts to sketches to samples- everything! I obviously have to do it on a bit of a delay so ideas aren’t copied and stuff but I can’t wait to show you what I’m working on!!

Until then, I do have one favor. I need a name! Now I’ve asked some friends and they of course said “name it The Shoe Girl” but I don’t think that really makes sense for a brand name… What do you guys think?? I’d love suggestions and if you come up with a name that I love you’ll forever have bragging rights that YOU came up with the brand name. ;)
Think girly and fun and not too junior sounding. I know that it looks like a food company from my images up there but I want it to have that felling of delicious treats for your feet. I don’t know about you but when I see the right pair of shoes I crave it, just like sweets.

I should remind you that I can’t use my own name because Celine is already taken and is a well established French high end line. Bummer.

Yippee!! I can’t wait for this next adventure!

LOVE YOU GUYS!!

  • Anonymous Feb.08.2011, 1:04 am

you could pay homage to one of the 2 most famous pairs of shoes
the glass slipper (or to put a spin on it, the glass pump)
    ruby slippers

  • Anonymous Feb.05.2011, 7:35 am

    laughing so hard at ‘nipple’

  • Jizzabella Hendricks Feb.04.2011, 1:28 am

Miss Soto. Mon Ami CeCe. Mon Ami Celine. J’adore (i don’t know about that due to it’s Dior likeness, but they can’t have it all!). Sotoe Amour. Mignonne Pieds (cute feet). Doux Pieds (sweet feet). Douce Pieds (sweet feet).

  • Helen@Soft Leather Baby Shoes Feb.03.2011, 1:42 pm

What an amazing opportunity. Good luck on finding a name!

  • Mother of Style Feb.02.2011, 11:12 pm

Unfortunately, I can only offer you my hearfelt congratulations because the only name I can come up with is truly awful: Feet Treat.

    Well, hang on….what about Bonbons.

Hmmmm back to the drawing board…

  • Annie Spandex Feb.02.2011, 7:47 am

    “Shoe Girl” sounds like “sugar”.

    Sugirl

  • Brad Fallon Feb.01.2011, 10:22 am

I suggest you call your line
    Pinkpop
    Pinksoda
    Candy cane…
    :)

  • Anonymous Feb.01.2011, 7:55 am

why do you get your own line? i really don’t get it..

  • Erin Bev12 Feb.01.2011, 6:53 am

    How about calling your line

    “friandise”

which is french for candy I think…or

    “bonbon”

It would be a cute and fitting name because it would represent the look you are trying to achieve with your new line!!!

    I like Dulcet a lot
    also Cinderella
    Empress
    Duchess
Something with Royalty in the name?
But I do think I would avoid the ones with Feet in the name or food. Just doesn’t work for shoes.

SoTo is super cute and keeps the brand as YOU instead of something else. I also like it when designers make up a name, like Kate Spade did.

I don’t know your middle name, but something like that.
Audrey Azure (after hepburn and my favorite color) example only of course, but something like that is kind of cool.
I also like the new trend of naming it just something totally random like rag and bone did.

  • Agent Lover Feb.01.2011, 3:09 am

Not sure if you’re still taking name suggestions, but here is mine…DELCIAS by TSG, it sounds like delicious but it means delight or delicacy in spanish, which are two words I could see in your shoe designs. Good Luck with your new adventure I know you will be a huge success!!

  • The Bloomwoods Jan.31.2011, 10:07 pm

Congratulations! and btw I love your blog ;)
But what about Celine´s shoe or the shoes soul or just shoe but in african or something haha I don´t know
    But good luck though :D

  • Kim Jan.31.2011, 9:57 pm

    Hey Celine,

This is Kim, Graham’s wife, Ben’s friend. We got to see your dude at Graham’s show the other night, it’s been forever!! Congrats on getting to start your own line, that’s amazing! So just thought I would join the fun and I came up with

    Crème ~by Celine

Ok, so there it is. Best of luck with everything. Maybe we’ll see you at the Simply Kung Fu reunion show, lol

    P.S Great blog ;)

  • Dexter Jan.30.2011, 2:30 pm

Wow, first of all, congrats and good luck with the new project, I’m sure everything will be fine!
I’m not very inspired right now so can’t give you any ideas regarding the name-issue. At the moment it is certainly a pity that your name is Celine; tell me your not considering changing it to Chloe, that wouldn’t help much :)

  • HeelShields Jan.30.2011, 4:34 am

And, Celine, get some thumb drives or flash drives – the easiest way to back up your important computer files – they are even big enough now to back up most of your hard drive.

  • HeelShields Jan.30.2011, 4:06 am

Congratulations on starting your own line – how about Sweeties!

Also if you need a giveaway product for your shoe introduction, you may want to look at Heel Shields with your logo. The Heel Shield is the perfect product for the shoe lover – protects the shoes of men and women while they drive – no more drivers black heel scuffs.

  • Brige Jan.30.2011, 4:02 am

    Cupcake Couture.

It’s not too young, not too…uppity. It blends your girly/frilly love with the tantalizing fantasy of high fashion.

  • nekko.noir Jan.30.2011, 12:50 am

You seem to have an affinity for pink things when it comes to drawing inspiration, so maybe play off of that?

    Pink Kiss
    A Wink of Pink
    Tickled Pink
    So(to) Pink
    Pink Piggy (haha)

It may not be the level of sophistication you’re looking for if perhaps you want a high-end market but I thought it might be cute.

  • Mystique Jan.29.2011, 12:17 am

Celine that is amazing!!! Congrats, you deserve it and it’s been a long time coming! I now think… how come you hadn’t thought about this before?! lol!

How about… Footilicious or something like that? Except less stupid sounding? I suck at names, but I’m sure you’ll find the one that suits your brand best :)

Congrats and keep up the good work!!! <3 xxx

  • ShoeTease Jan.28.2011, 11:15 pm

Fabulous moods! I can’t wait to see the development :) In terms of a name…how about Shoe Lush?

  • TheShoeGirl Jan.27.2011, 6:41 pm

You guys are the best!! Thank you for your kind words and support <3

    I have a few names I like… I’ll keep you updated!

  • Anonymous Jan.27.2011, 5:04 pm

What about “Nube Dulce” or “Dulce Nube” “Dulce Sueno” or “Sueno Dulce” I think they translate to sweet clouds and sweet dreams.

    I’ll never have enough shoes

  • Anonymous Jan.27.2011, 3:55 pm

    CE-line
    sugarplum

on a side note, have you heard the song “New Shoes” by Paolo Nutini? I thought about this song when you were describing the feeling you get when you meet those perfect new shoes!

  • Anonymous Jan.27.2011, 3:42 pm

    “Crave” or “From the Heart”

  • RubiLynn Jan.27.2011, 2:59 pm

    As always, congrats!!!

What about naming your shoe like “Sweet Spot” or “Sugar”…something that denotes different types of candy without being to over the top.

Also, what about “Luna” which is Spanish for moon, which I believe is the meaning of your name.

    Best of luck chica!!!

  • MsVeve Jan.27.2011, 9:53 am

    High (heeled) maintenance?
or like I use my name with the Ms so MsCece.. or just Cece, which I like cause reminds me of the french princes (thou she was spelled different).

  • Chia May Jan.27.2011, 6:00 am

WOW!!! congratulations on having your own shoe line!!!! congrats!!!
now you can design any shoe you desire..it must be a dream come true!!

anyways for the name of your shoe line, how about “bonbon”?
    just a suggestion :)

    good luck !

  • wale Jan.27.2011, 3:03 am

We missed you, but the news are worth the wait!

I’m sure you’ll find the perfect name for the line; To get inspiration for the the name, I would put on some of my favorite shoes and concentrate on the happy feeling they give me… and the name will come!

    Good luck!

  • Griffin the Cat Jan.27.2011, 2:24 am

Congrats! I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

As for a name, I would like to suggest “Tartlet” It’s sweeter sounding then just a plain ole Tart. :-)

  • M. Jan.27.2011, 12:48 am

    Congrats!
How about: Dulce, Sole-mate, Celeste, EmmE?
    I like those
    Good luck!

  • Anonymous Jan.26.2011, 10:44 pm

If there’s a brand called Car Shoes, then Shoe Girl (drop the “The” as it implies there’s only one…let your customer BE Shoe Girl, plus it sounds like Show Girl, which seems to go with your idea board pics).

    @chicspace

  • rose girl Jan.26.2011, 9:36 pm

    Delicious Shoes.

because I know they will be :o)

oooh, or ‘Cinderella’, has that been done? I don’t think so, and you just can’t help but think of shoes when you read that name.

Congratulations! Just make sure you bring them to England, ok?

    Sadie x

congrats, btw! this is so much more than exciting for you, i can tell….good luck and i can’t wait to see the line! :)

  • StephLe Jan.26.2011, 6:16 pm

C.O. Soto or Cici Soto.. Ci Soto.. or just do what your dad did and go with Cici O

  • Pink Haired Princess Jan.26.2011, 4:52 pm

I couldn’t be happier for you, that’s really amazing! Oooh, now to come up with a name (I’m usually pretty crap at that type of thing)…I’ll get back to you! Gah, I’m just so happy, great news! x x x

  • Death By Shoe Jan.26.2011, 3:24 pm

Eeek so exciting! Congrat’s! I’ve always been a fan of your designs and cant wait to see what you come up with!

  • SVB Jan.26.2011, 2:38 pm

Congrats! I can’t wait to see what shoes you come up with.

As for a name, what about Feet Sweets?

  • ElkandElm Jan.26.2011, 11:24 am

Well it really depends on your Target Market, upper mid or low. You can attack it and base it on sweet sounding names but as you said thats inspiration for the line of shoes but as the season change so evolves your offerings in the shoe design themselves-As much as you brand Philosophy -A majority of higher end shoes as you are well aware are named after the designer as i assume you want to be the brand as much as a spokesperson, so probably hark back to your origins/something marketable about yourself – for your brand story…

    C.S

    Soto

Clean, simple and something that aims at longevity and wont date. Sometimes the most plainest is the best offering and if ever you add an additional range in another sub market you have flexibility to name it as such and once again congrats

  • Anonymous Jan.26.2011, 11:04 am

Oh My Gosh – you must be super excited – thats like a dream come true for any show lover.

how about more than just bragging rights for the person who comes up with a name – how about a pair of shoes from your first range – now that would be something supa dupa cool.

    i liked the Cloud9 suggestion

    my suggestions:
    candy kiss
    sugar angel
    dress up

    good luck :)

  • Anonymous Jan.26.2011, 10:52 am

    How about…
    Bodacious
    Bloom & Blush
    Nipple
    Lass
    Crinkle Love
    Innocence Lost

    I can go on. ;>)

  • Pearl Westwood Jan.25.2011, 11:20 pm

How about a play on your last name, like ‘Nine’ or ‘O-Nine’, Soto Shoes has ring to it!

  • Pearl Westwood Jan.25.2011, 11:18 pm

CONGRATS!!! Wow what name to choose that is really tough, I think it would have to be something fun but sophisticated, hmm will get back to you if I think of anything good! Do you have a middle name? x

  • Anonymous Jan.25.2011, 10:52 pm

I wish these commenters came up with better names.. they’re all either missing the point you’ve addressed or just terribly tacky.

No way! I actually do like using The Shoe Girl in your line name.

    Maybe…

By The Shoe Girl or By TSG
Or By The Shoe Girl, For the Shoe Girls?

    I think that’s a nice twist.

  • ElkandElm Jan.25.2011, 10:08 pm

    Congratulations Celine!!!

how about possibly – hello, Sweetie! ….. pays homage to the famous line in SATC “hello lover” or the stage production/movie “hello dolly” the movie was a sweet confection of costume ties back in that way.

Good luck in your new venture!!

  • Desi Jan.25.2011, 9:47 pm

  • Kelsey Bowen Jan.25.2011, 6:39 pm

    How about:

    Stella and Banksy
    (or Banksy and Stella)

    or

    Hearts of Celine

    or

You could use a childhood nickname? like a shortening of Celine?

    Just some thoughts! Congratulations! :)

  • A Maze In Grace Jan.25.2011, 6:38 pm

I just love a girl with a mean shoe game… so “Mean Girl” is not pertaining to you.

  • A Maze In Grace Jan.25.2011, 6:37 pm

Your shoe line should be called… “MEAN GIRL” or “Pickled Pink”

My only suggestion is that you please please please use high end materials. Real leather and good heels. I know you probably want to appeal to the masses, but don’t be afraid to charge $300+ for a pair of shoes, and make then worth it.

Please design lots of platforms and avant garde shoes as well, even if it was just one pair a season.

I like the idea of Shoe Girl … but, as you said, that’s not your thing. How about Cloud 9? Or Cloud Nine, I suppose. Sort of like, your shoes are so perfect and comfortable and amazing, that owning a pair/wearing a pair is like being on Cloud 9.

  • Rosie Jan.25.2011, 5:25 pm

OMG, I’m so excited for you!!! Its been a dream of mine to start my own line day but I’m so so happy for you!!!

  • Polished Girl Jan.25.2011, 5:24 pm

That is more than Cool! Its nothing like seeing your dreams unfold. As long as you’re doing what you love, its never work!

How about… Eddy (Slogan: Desirable, Foot Edible).

  • Anonymous Jan.25.2011, 4:59 pm

I don’t know, but maybe “Pink Candy” or “Sweet Feet (Treat)” or “Sweet Treats”

    Hope this helps a bit.

    I’ll never have enough shoes

If you want you can call them “Venus Super Star” hehehe. I can be the foot model ;))

  • Irunn2doorz Jan.25.2011, 4:47 pm

That is AMAZING that you will get your own line. I will def. buy whatever you make.
Maybe you should name your line after you. Your name is pretty and your shoes will be pretty. Plus, “I’m rockin my new Celine’s today” has a nice ring to it. :D
    Akatsuki Daydreams

  • Jenny Brewer Jan.25.2011, 4:46 pm

    Yay! Congrats!!! That’s so exciting.
I like Crave. Maybe Crave by the Shoe Girl.
    or Indulge.
Definitely have missed your posts, but looking forward to seeing the new lline!

  • kkist Jan.25.2011, 4:45 pm

I’m so excited for you!!!! I will be thinking of a name and keep you posted! My first instinct is to call it Celine but I see you are craving a delicious fun name for your line! This will be a fun challenge! You know I love your designs and I am very very excited to see the product from sketch to shoe!!!
    Best Wishes Kenda

  • Anonymous Jan.25.2011, 4:39 pm

    The Shoe Girl! :)

  • Robo Jan.25.2011, 4:13 pm

    That’s so awesome! Congratulations!!

For the name, it should be simple and memorable. The words you used to describe what you feel about shoes are good starting points: Treat, Crave, Sweets, etc. Or it could be an acronym, like KISS, but we’d have to figure out what the letters stand for.

    So exciting!! Congrats again :)

  • LADIVASOSA Jan.25.2011, 4:12 pm

Unbelieveable and fantastic!! Much success to you darling! I’m looking forward to seeing the process from your perspective. I work in fashion on the apparel side, so it would be interesting to see…

  • { aggie } Jan.25.2011, 4:08 pm

What about getting a name from idioms or proverbs? That’s how I got the new name for my blog.

Something like “If The Shoe Fits”, because people who see it will immediately complete the sentence with “Wear it!”. People will definitely remember your line.

I personally think that the name is a bit too long, but I’m sure you’ll be able to find something. *fingers crossed*

PS: Maybe that could be your tagline or something.

  • Collette Osuna Jan.25.2011, 4:07 pm
